Inspirational & Motivational Speaker Carol Dellinger...Finisher of 314 Marathons and a 11 Year Breast Cancer Survivor......"You never know how strong you have to be until being strong is the only option"
As Breast Cancer Awareness and the month of October comes to a close, I am overwhelmed with gratitude from everyone that celebrated my 10th anniversary as a cancer survivor with me! It was a huge milestone to achieve and thanks to all of the special people from Cancer Care Northwest, Inland Imaging, Wigwam Socks, Alaska Airlines, Colfax Police Department, Retro Donuts, Colfax Golf Course, Sharp Shooting, Wake Up Call Coffee, 98.1 KISS FM, Umpqua Bank, EWU Hockey, and Gonzaga Womens Soccer for being apart of my amazing month of celebration! My heart is full!!! May I be blessed with 10 more cancer free years!!
What a fun night dropping the ceremonial puck at the Eastern Washington University Breast Cancer Awareness hockey game!! This was an amazing experience to be chosen for this honor and one of the coolest things I have had the opportunity to do!! Thanks so much for supporting the cause!!!
What an honor to be asked to attend practice today and share some inspirational words with the Gonzaga Women’s Soccer team before their Breast Cancer Awareness Pink game tomorrow!! What an awesome group of young ladies! Thanks so much for the opportunity and for supporting the cause!!!
What a fun night with some amazing women celebrating breast cancer awareness shooting at some awesome pink targets! Thanks to everyone who came tonight to support the cause and help me celebrate 10 years cancer free!!!! My heart is so full tonight!!!!
Today, here on this beautiful beach in San Diego I am celebrating 10 years cancer free!!!! On October 20, 2009 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer I did not shatter or crumble to die, or let cancer feed on my fear, I choose to live and find light in the darkness! I no longer doubt myself or my strength because I am so much stronger now than I was 10 years ago!!!!
Thanks to Jon at Retro Donuts for the 10 Awesome Pink Ribbon donuts to symbolize and celebrate my 10 years cancer free!! What a fun start to my day to witness the first batch of Pink Ribbon donuts being produced!!! I appreciate your continued support for Breast Cancer Awareness and I am so grateful that you thought of me!!!
And just like that, my 30 year marathon career came to an end today as I finished my 314th marathon at the Long Beach Marathon here in beautiful Southern California!! It was an emotional time for me as I came down my final marathon promenade to have a marathon finisher medal draped around my neck one last time! My mind was overcome with memories of this amazing 30 year journey!!! After 314 marathons, I truly am Warrior Strong!!!
Thanks to everyone at Alaska Airlines for having an awesome send off celebration at my departure this morning as I head to Southern California for the final marathon of my running career and to help me celebrate 10 years cancer free!!! Alaska has flown me to all 314 marathons over the last 30 years and I can’t thank them enough for treating me like family!!!
It has been an emotional week for me as I prepare for my final marathon of my running career on Sunday. As I look at over 300+ finisher medals hanging from these two Warrior Marathon Runner sculptures, I feel a great sense of pride! Not many women have completed as many marathons as I have the last 30 years, let alone being handed the additional challenge of going through breast cancer 10 years ago! It is going to be an emotional and overwhelming day on Sunday as I cross my final marathon finishline!!!
It will be an honor to spend the next 36 hours as a Guardian to these amazing Vietnam Veterans Larry and Vic as we travel to Washington DC on Honor Flight to see all the memorials made in their honor!!! Great being reunited with fellow Guardian Jeannine!!!
Next weekend my marathon career will come to an end when I cross my final finish line. Ten years ago marathons were my familiar comfort in a world of cancer chaos and I became stronger because I had no other choice! Now 80 marathons later I believe I have put enough distance between myself and cancer that I no longer need marathons to define me or prove that I have won this cancer battle. It is time to move on and I am going to be alright!!!
What a great way to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month by making an appearance on the 98.1 KISS FM Harder and Holman show this morning as their Feel Good Story of the day! I shared the news of the release of my Pink Glove Video, my upcoming marathon and my 10 year cancer milestone! Thanks to 98.1 KISS FM for supporting the cause!!!
