Thanks San Diego Police Department

One week ago today we were in a situation we had never experienced before in my previous 307 marathons, an active shooter at the finishline of the Rock n Roll San Diego Marathon. This has been weighting heavy on my mind all of this week. Thanks to the heroic actions of the San Diego Police Department, the threat was under control after 45 terrifying minutes. This photo was taken at mile 16 with Officer Burlison and Officer Weaver who were patrolling the race coarse before the chaos began. I am forever grateful for all of the local San Diego law enforcement for their quick action to keep all of the spectators and participates safe. My prayers are with the officer who received the gun shot wound to his leg. 💙👮‍♀️💙👮‍♀️💙👮‍♀️💙

Unbelievable Week

My experience this week hiking in Snow Canyon State Park in Utah was unbelievable! My life usually consists of marathons and breast cancer events, but this week I stepped out of my comfort zone. We hiked into a different canyon everyday in extremely hot temperatures and into rugged situations that made my legs shake from fear of falling. I returned home sunburned and sore but with a feeling of extreme satisfaction! My marathon next weekend in San Diego will feel like a cake walk after this week!!
