OKC Marathon

I am honored to have the opportunity to return to the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon on April 29th! This marathon is to remember the 168 people who lost their lives on April 19th, 1995. I LOVE their mission statement......This marathon is to celebrate life, reach for the future, honor the memory of those who were killed, and unite the world in hope. This is not just another marathon, it is a Race to Remember, and a race to show that we can each make a difference and change the world.

As I reflect on my recent 305th marathon finish, I realize it isn’t about how fast I get to the finishline, or what is waiting for me at the end, but it is about the journey of thousands of miles to get there. My strength and toughness did not come from what I have accomplished, it has come from overcoming the obstacles I once thought were impossible!!!

Life is so good!

As my 305th marathon approaches in Honolulu on Dec 10th, I have come to realize that 26.2 miles is just several shorter races put together that represent pieces of this journey of mine. I can’t help but feel emotional this year because this is where I completed my 300th marathon last year.  So many challenges this year have made me a much stronger individual than I was a year ago!!!

Long Beach Marathon

Looking forward to my 304th marathon in 2 weeks, my first marathon in 5 months! Right after my last marathon earlier this spring, I had an accident and tore up my knee which required surgery. It was a humbling experience, but during this rehab journey I discovered something amazing. I got off the hard road surface and I discovered soft dirt trails and climbed to high elevations I never imagined possible and found a different strength was needed for this challenge. It has been a wonderful 5 months and I am ready to take on another 26.2 miles!

Fenway Park and Red Sox Game

30 years ago on September 13th, 1987 my mother passed away from this terrible disease we call cancer. She was from Boston and a huge Red Sox fan. So I could not think of a better way to honor or pay tribute to her on this significant anniversary then by traveling 3000 miles to Boston to attend a Red Sox game at Fenway Park! And the Red Sox organization even arranged for us to go down on the field prior to the game for photos to make this day even more special! Angels in the Outfield for sure!!!
